Course for co-researchers – User involvement in research – Bruker-Elf

Bruker-Elf is a course for those who are curious about medical research, and want to be qualified for participation in research projects. You will get an introduction into how a research protocol is made and what questions researchers must ask themselves during the research process. This course is part of a strategy to train and qualify service user representatives in research. The goal is to enable and motivate service users and service user representatives to participate in research.

This is a dialogue based course, and no prior knowledge is needed.

The course is a collaboration between KBT and AFFU. Health trusts are required by law to involve user representatives in all research projects.

Peer support specialists’ function

Once a year KBT invites to a course on peer support specialists’ function in substance- and psychiatric services.

We will discuss what it means to be professional as a peer support worker, and how to make a difference in this type of work. We will also look closer at what measures employers can take to accommodate peer support workers. The course will be based on both Norwegian, and international experiences, as well as the experiences of course participants through dialogue and group work.

The course is directed at either those that are planning to, or have previously engaged peer specialists, and for peer specialists that are currently active. The goal is to strengthen the role of peer specialist. the course will consists of lectures and group exercises that builds on practical examples and experiences.


Verktøykassa for brukermedvirkning [the Toolbox for user participation] – self-development course

KBT offers a self-developement course together with Sagatun peer-driven center, which is led by Ragna Vorkinslien and Eirin Yvonne Eriksen.

The course provides an introduction to the topics of empowerment, communication and user involvement on an individual- and a systematic level. It consists of exercises intended to strengthen confidence, impulsivity and communication. It takes place over four days, with one 14-week interval (but this can be adapted after desire). The course may be held as a local gathering in a user organization, or for users and health personnel in a service.

No prior knowledge is needed, but it’s recommended that participants actively engage in the activities in order to get the most out of the course.

Process leader in User Interviews User

As a process leader in User Interviews User (UIU) you will be involved in interesting tasks through evaluation and service development in municipalities and health trusts. Process leaders in UIU should have lived experience from using health services.

The course in UIU is both theoretical and practical. You will learn how to conduct a UIU-survey, and will get the opportunity to conduct a UIU-project. The project in the municipality of Steinkjer in 2006-2007, the UIU-evaluation of KIM-senteret in 2008 and “My Voice Matters” in 2015 were UIU-projects where new process leaders were trained in the UIU-method.

The practical part of the training includes guidance from KBT.
