Evaluations of mental health and substance abuse services and User Interviews User-surveys with a focus on how services users’ experiences can become a natural part of service development.
A main objective for me is how we can facilitate dialogues so that every voice is heard and that everyone feels valued in the dialogue, both service users and service providers.
Background and experience
I started working in this field because of my lived experience from mental health problems and treatment in the specialized health services.
I have long experience from leading development projects, a work that led to the development of the User Interviews User-method.
I also have long experience from participation and leadership in the service user organization Mental Helse, both locally and nationally. I have been a representative in service user councils in the municipality and in regional authorities.
At the National centre for knowledge through experience in mental health I worked as a research and development adviser.
I lead a research council with a focus on how service users’ experiences can become part of the development of knowledge within mental health and substance abuse.
Wishes to contribute with
I have always wanted to contribute to better care and help for people with mental health challenges. I hope to contribute to making service users and relatives experiences valid in developing services.
I want to promote alternatives to involuntary care based on experiences of those needing help and their relatives. I took part in making “Alternativer til tvang i et bruker- og fagperspektiv” [Alternatives to coercion in a patient and professional perspective].
